Join West Tamar Council Mayor Christina Holmdahl for the official launch of key reports from the Tasmanian Councils Supporting Climate Healthy and Resilient Communities Project.
About the Project
Funded by the Tasmanian Government’s Healthy Focus Grant and delivered by the Northern Tasmanian Alliance for Resilient Councils in partnership with the Department of Health and UTAS Menzies Institute, this statewide initiative clarifies local government roles and sets a roadmap for building climate-ready, healthy communities.
Through ten regional workshops and sector engagement, the project gathered insights from over 100 participants across 21 councils, government agencies, and community organisations. The result? A Shared Blueprint and Technical Report outlining seven principles for creating healthy, connected, and climate-ready communities.
Mayor Christina Holmdahl says:
“Councils are intrinsically impacted by the effects of climate change - more so that any level of government in Australia. This blueprint will provide local government with the tools and partnerships required to protect community health and resilience now and for generations to come.”
