The Bach Chamber Choir of Milwaukee kicks off its 56th season with "Roots & Branches: American Choral Masterpieces" on Oct. 19, 3 pm, at charming St. Christopher's Episcopal Church - 7845 N. River Road in River Hills!
Directed by Jonathan Kim and accompanied by our new (and AMAZING) accompanist Josh Chandra, the performance presents a collection of moving American music from our roots, such as spirituals and shaped-note singing, to the many branches of contemporary classics.
Prepare to be swept away by beautiful, moving pieces from composers/arrangers Rosephanye Powell, Daniel Gawthrop, Eric Whitacre, Randall Thompson, Samuel Barber, James Erb, Alice Parker/Robert Shaw, Moses Hogan, Daniel Elder, Stephen Paulus... and so much more. Plus, we're in for a special treat because Christian Rich is going to play several songs on St. Christopher's newly refurbished Holtkamp organ!
St. Christopher's is one of our favorite venues, and there will be a reception after the concert - all are invited. You don't want to miss this... even Milwaukee Magazine is talking about it!
