Hi everyone! As some of you may know, last December Mustafa underwent surgery to remove a cancerous tumor on the right side of his head. While the surgery was largely successful, another tumor has recently grown back in the same location. Mustafa will now have to undergo a more invasive surgery this summer to remove it. At only 29 years old, this will be Mustafa’s 6th cancer-related surgery.
In preparation for the upcoming surgery this July, Mustafa just finished 20 days straight of radiation therapy with hopes of slowing the tumor’s growth. Due to the schedule of his visits to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester and the side effects of the radiation itself, Mustafa has been unable to work for over a month and will not be able to return to work until October at the earliest. Physically, emotionally, and financially, Mustafa’s medical conditions continue to take a toll on the Adam family.
Anyone who knows Mustafa knows just how special of a person he is. His laughter and smile are contagious, and he is loved member of every group, team, and community that he has ever been a part of. Mustafa, quite literally, has zero haters.
Above all, Mustafa is a devoted husband to his wife Kaylee and a loving father of two beautiful children (Zayn and Mila). For years his family has endured long days and nights in hospitals, praying for good news. But now they are faced again with even more adversity.
That’s why a small group of his closest friends have decided to set up the StafaStrong 5k Fundraiser. On October 4th, in his hometown of River Falls, WI, we will be a hosting a 5k run followed by an afterparty to bring friends and community together and to raise money to help the Adam family as they navigate this new challenge. The entry fee for the 5k is $30 and comes with a T shirt. The T shirt alone will be $25. The link for the race and shirts will be posted soon. And for those who can’t attend, donations are still greatly appreciated and 100% go to the Adam family!
As we get closer I will share more details about the route, fundraiser, shirts for purchase, and location of the afterparty via this page.
So mark October 4th on your calendars and show up to run, walk, or just hang out and support Mustafa! We are hoping for a great turnout!
