Tony Carlson, Marcus Ellsworth, & Open Mic Poetry

Tony writes: “I am a retired science educator with an MDiv from Emory.
My free time is often spent, hiking or backpacking, and photography as a hobby.
It is my nature to reflect on life and experiences and write out my thoughts.
There is nothing really poetic about what I write, just reflections written in short free-verse style, and to the point. Maybe one could call it poetic journaling.”

He will be joined by Marcus Ellsworth, a Chattanooga spoken word artist and event host/organizer. Since 2011, Marcus has hosted the open mic The Floor Is Yours (formerly Wide Open Floor). He has organized large festivals including Chattanooga Pride as well as various open mics and performances. Marcus was a politics writer and poet in residence for MTV News from 2015 until 2017 where he traveled the country covering grassroots political movements for print, video, and audio content.
