The City of Riley will be picking up debris that has been sorted and placed by the curb Tuesday, May 6th and Wednesday, May 7th. Items must be sorted and placed by the curb before 5/7, or the city will not pick them up. Please make sure to not place items in front of/on top of water meters and fire hydrants.
Lend a hand and clean up town by taking care of your residential property. This is an opportunity to get rid of unwanted items. Items must be sorted in the following manner, or it will not be picked up:
o Bricks, rocks and concrete
o Large furniture
o Brush and tree limbs
o Wood, plywood and lumber
o Grass and leaves (Biodegradable bags only, NO PLASTIC)
o Appliances (with refrigerant removed)
o Metal
NO TIRES, SHINGLES, OR HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE
WILL BE PICKED UP BY THE CITY
(Unacceptable items include electronics, microwaves, televisions, paint cans, tar buckets, caulk tubes, batteries, liquids, rags, books and paper, friable asbestos, and processed lumber)
DO NOT PLACE ANY ITEMS IN OR AROUND THE ROLL-OFFS

Senior citizens: If you need help getting heavy items to the curb, please call the city office at 785-485-2802 or the city shop at 785-485-2425.
Be reasonable with what you put out for pick up. It is entirely up to the discretion of the public works department to determine what amount they can pick up. The city will not spend multiple hours at one household picking up items.
