The art exhibition “Bitter Herbs” by Maria Gvardeytseva

On December 4 at 5:00 PM, the Museum of the Riga Ghetto and the Holocaust in Latvia will open the art exhibition “Bitter Grasses” by Maria Gvardeytseva.
In her photographs, collages, and video works, the artist uses plants collected and documented at sites of extermination in Latvia, Lithuania, and Belarus. These grasses become witnesses and evidence — a form of memory that grows through the soil and does not allow the past to be forgotten.
The exhibition is dedicated to the tragic dates of November 30 and December 8, when 25,000 Latvian Jews were murdered in Rumbula.
