INTRODUCING THE WRITER’S DEN FIRST EVER EFF THE RULES SLAM!!!
This is a slam where we let go of the traditional rules of slam, with a few things still in place.
•All work must be original!
•We welcome individual poems, AND group pieces to be competed with!
•You CAN use props and costumes.
•You will not be disqualified for going over the standard time of 3 minutes and 10 seconds, but there will be a time cut off of 4 minutes, where the time-keeper will stop your performance.
•There are 3 elimination rounds. All registered poets will compete in the first round, the top scores will move forward in the competition that night.
•We start with a maximum of 10 poets. 7 move on to the second round. 4 move on to the last round.
•Each round is clean slate with a random draw for the order of performance.
•Poems are scored by 5 judges on a scale of 0.0 to 10.0. The highest and lowest scores are dropped. The three remaining score are totaled giving a poet their score for that round. The highest score a poem can receive is a 30.
•Sign ups for the slam are in person and first come first serve.
•Winner of the night will receive a small cash prize.
