We’re excited to invite you to the opening of Hol’on We Stay Here, a youth-curated and created exhibition that marks the culmination of ART 180’s summer teen programs.
This immersive show explores the legacy of displacement in Jackson Ward, once known as Richmond’s Black Wall Street, through the lens of the young artists who spent the summer diving into its layered history. Exploring the impact of systemic displacement as well as community changemakers historic venues. Together, they reimagined the gallery as a home filled with meaning:
A room curated with custom sneakers designed by teens in a program led by Shawnda Harper
A living room filled with the sounds of DJ mixes crafted by students led by Infinite Peace and Yoko Nishizawa
Artworks, archives, and personal reflections created during our Atlas Artist Residency led by Davi Leventhal and Tiara Russell
Join us for the opening reception on Friday, August 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. at ART 180’s Atlas gallery, 114 W Marshall St. Experience this collective statement from a rising generation of artists reclaiming history and reimagining home.
The show will remain on view at ART 180's Atlas gallery from August 1-September 19. For more information, head to art180.org
