Join public health communicator Kayla Nixon, founder of UterineCareCollaborative.com for a community forum discussing uterine health conditions and disparities, an urgent health crisis in the Black community.
High-risk uterine cancer is on the rise, disproportionately affecting black women. Black women are 2X more likely to be diagnosed with uterine cancer than white women. According to Mayo Clinic, 90% of Black people with a uterus are diagnosed with fibroids by age 50. Black women also develop fibroids at younger ages and have larger, faster growing fibroids.
This just skirts the surface of available research that we will discuss. Attendees will then engage in a storytelling circle and Q&A session to learn advocacy strategies and encourage communal learning.
