About the event

LIGO at the Library: A Light Lecture on Physics and Astronomy
LIGO Presents: Cassidy Eassa!

LIGO is an astronomical observatory that detects ripples in spacetime caused by colliding objects in space such as black holes and neutron stars. The LIGO Hanford Observatory, located in Richland, WA, is one of three detectors of this type in the entire world. Join us August 7th at 7pm to learn more about physics and astronomy!

Cassidy has been a Science Educator at the LIGO Hanford Observatory for five years. She loves sharing the fascinating physics, astronomy, and engineering that allow the most sensitive measuring device in the world to detect gravitational waves. Cassidy received her B.A. in astronomy from Cornell University with a concentration in education. One of her favorite parts of being a science educator is making science content accessible and available to everyone.
