LIGO at the Library: A Light Lecture on Physics and Astronomy

LIGO Presents: Maggie Jensen!

LIGO is an astronomical observatory that detects ripples in spacetime caused by colliding objects in space such as black holes and neutron stars. The LIGO Hanford Observatory, located in Richland, WA, is one of three detectors of this type in the entire world. Join us August 7th at 7pm to learn more about physics and astronomy!

As a Science Educator at the LIGO Hanford Observatory, Maggie Jensen enjoys sharing the fascinating physics, astronomy, and engineering that allow the most sensitive measuring device in the world to detect gravitational waves. Maggie received her B.S. in physics from Utah State University and her M.S.Ed. in science education from Purdue University. Before working at LIGO, she was a classroom teacher for nearly 8 years. She loves astrophysics, and making it accessible and available to everyone is her passion.
