FIBER FACTS, TIDBITS AND TALL TALES: What I have learned as a vendor of yarn and fabric.

RCL welcomes Dick Dapson, owner of Fabrications, LLC right here in Richland!

With a background in fiber studies and textile chemistry, Dick has all kinds of stories and facts about fabric, yarn, textiles.

About the Host:
Dick is a retired biomedical dye chemist who owned a manufacturing company specializing in innovative chemical reagents for pathology laboratories. Because most of the dyes used in pathology are textile dyes, he studied fiber and textile chemistry. He and his wife started Fabrications in 2002 with help from their daughter Christine. Janet and Dick retired from the medical field in 2006 and went to work full time at Fabrications. Originally specializing in garment fabric, Fabrications expanded in 2008 to include fine yarn. Dick learned to knit at that time and has been designing and knitting ever since.

Fabrications is currently located in two separate buildings at the Richland Common, just down Gull Road from the Richland Library. Fabrications' Yarn Cottage is at 8719 Gull Road and the Fabric Warehouse is at 8709 Gull Road, behind State Farm.
