I have not told you!
But it is time.
After two more monkeys have been shot in Richards Bay in one week I am more than determined to do what I am about to do.
A. On Good Friday morning whilst I have been in Komatipoort - almost entering the Kruger Park, Karen phoned me in tears that she had found a paralized monkey in her garden. What can I do from Komatipoort? Eventually phoned a good friend Cecile and she went to fetch little Cole in Lantern Reef. She looked after him till Dr Mc Kearnan from Meerensee Veterinary Hospital could attend to him. Sadly Cole was shot into the spine and was euthanised.
B. This morning our staff member Sanele saw this dearest monkey boy crawling accross the very busy Essenwood Way in Arboretum (same street as our surgery). Cars everywhere and everyone is on the way to the schools and work and monkey boy is trying to survive inbetween. Courage and determination grabbed him and he stopped the traffic and picked the boy up and brought him to the surgery. Woody was shot in the spine and Dr Otto euthanised him.
Two monkeys shot. One week. And our town and animal welfare institutions and council do nothing.
So I have decided to raise funds for the wildlife in Richards Bay. My aim is to put street poles up with “warning signs” and get renowned speakers to Richards Bay and try educate the “left behinds”. As well as to cover medical expenses for all these wild animals that we fix and to help other regab centres when money is needed.
My brother, Martin Cramer, who is my team mate will be cycling for the Christians that are being slaughtered in Syria, Congo, Sudan and Nigeria. Just simply for the being Christians. Martins Money will go to “Open doors” and “The voice of the Martyrs”.
During 25-29 July Martin and I will be taking part in the Nuvo Wild Ride. We will be taking part as Team Sisbro (sister and brother - very original! ). We will cycle 200km in 4 days on a wild ride. Meaning it is wild. No tracks. Over mountains and through rivers and next to the ocean.
