About the event

Palestinian Ethnography as a Practice of Hope

My presentation will consider Palestinian ethnography at a time of genocide and heightened colonial violence as a practice that cultivates hope in Palestinian futurity. Modest endeavors to listen to our fellow Palestinians and recognize the richness and value of their lives, take on added significance during a historical moment where Palestinian humanity is widely negated. Looking in particular at a few small recent projects carried out by Insaniyyat, the Association of Palestinian Anthropologists, I argue that the work taps into a longer tradition of Palestinian summud, or steadfastness.
