Hildur hefur skapað staðbundið verk sem er sérstaklega unnið fyrir sýningarrýmið.
Hún málar málverk á loft og veggi gallerísins og skapar þannig óvæntan heim þar sem furðuverur sem eru að hálfu leyti mennskar og að hálfu leyti af óræðum uppruna ráða ríkjum.
Verk Hildar spretta iðulega úr umbúðalausri sjálfsskoðun þar sem innra sálarlíf hennar framkallast á myndfletinum í samtali við annmarka sjálfsins og þær áskoranir sem mæta því.
Rýmið í undirgöngunum verður að táknmynd fyrir undirmeðvitundina þar sem Hildur skapar furðuverur innra sálarlífs - til að mynda urrandi hálfmennskar köngulóarkonur, varnarlausar klessuverur og aðrar skepnur sem bjóða áhorfandanum að gægjast inn að innsta kjarna mannlegrar tilveru.
Hildur Henrýsdóttir (f.1987) ólst upp á Þórshöfn á Langanesi.
Hún útskrifaðist me BA gráðu í myndlist
frá Listaháskóla Íslands 2016 og er einnig með BA gráðu í Nútímafræði frá Háskólanum á Akureyri.
Þverfagleg listsköpun Hildar spannar málverk, skúlptúr og gjörningalist. Hún hefur sýnt víða, meðal annars í
Hafnarborg, Gerðasafni, Listasafni Akureyrar og á sýningum í Berlín, London og Antwerpen.
Hildur has created a site-specific work conceived especially for the exhibition space. She paints directly onto the gallery’s ceiling and walls, constructing an unexpected world where strange creatures – part human, part of obscure origin – reign.
Hildur’s works often emerge from unfiltered self-examination, where her inner psychic world materialises in her works in dialogue with the flaws of the self and the challenges it faces.
The space within the underpass becomes a symbolic representation of the subconscious, where Hildur conjures beings from her inner landscape – snarling, half-human spider-women, vulnerable blob-like beings, and other creatures that invite the viewer to peer into the deepest layers of human existence
Hildur Henrýsdóttir (b.1987) grew up in the remote
village of Þórshöfn on the Langanes Peninsula. She holds a BA
in Fine Art from the Iceland University of the Arts (2016)
and a BA in Contemporary Studies from the University of
Akureyri. Her interdisciplinary practice spans painting,
sculpture, and performance art.
She has previously exhibited at major venues in Iceland,
including Hafnarborg, Gerðarsafn, and the Akureyri Art
Museum, as well as internationally in Berlin, London, and Antwerp.
