Cornwall Iron Furnace Associate president, Jim Polczynski, will give a lecture about an interesting and controversial Coleman descendent, James Coleman Drayton.
If you are one of the millions of people who watched Season 3 of the HBO television series, “The Gilded Age,” by Julian Fellowes you have heard the name James Coleman Drayton mentioned during multiple episodes. James Coleman Drayton was married to Charlotte Augusta Astor. The collapse of their marriage, and subsequent divorce, shocked New York high society at the end of the 19th Century. James Coleman Drayton is not a fictional character, but was a very real member of Society's elite, and a descendant of Robert Coleman. If you want to learn more about the life of James Coleman Drayton, including the drama of his marriage to Charlotte Augusta, please join us on Tuesday. October 14th, at 7 pm.
The speaker, James Polczynski, has worked as a consulting Knowledge Engineer for various steel companies, including Bethlehem Steel, Lukens Steel, Dofasco Steel and Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. He developed an interest in the iron and steel industry in Lebanon and Cornwall while renovating and restoring the Cornwall Company Store. He is the author of “Souls of Iron” which tells the remarkable story of the Coleman iron dynasty. Jim also is currently the president of the Friends of the Cornwall Iron Furnace.
This is an in-person and an online lecture that will utilize the Zoom platform. The in-person lecture will take place at Cornwall Manor in the Freeman Auditorium.
