About the event

A Victorian Christmas
A talk by Jan Read.

Jane Read has researched how Christmas has been celebrated from medieval times until today. Many of our current traditions come from the Victorian era including Christmas cards, crackers and Christmas trees.
Perhaps less well known is how Christmas festivities were influenced by the English Civil War. She will also take a look at some of the customs that have come from other cultures.

To complete the evening there are festive snacks including mince pies to enjoy after the talk.

Everyone welcome, non members £3.
