ABOUT THE STORY: "Ride the Cyclone" is a darkly comedic and whimsical musical that follows the story of the Saint Cassian High School Chamber Choir, a group of teenagers from Uranium City, Saskatchewan, who tragically died in a roller coaster accident. The show takes place in a surreal afterlife setting, where the teens are given a chance to perform once more and compete for the opportunity to return to life. Each character steps into the spotlight to share their unique story through song, revealing their dreams, regrets, and personalities. With a mix of humor, heartbreak, and catchy musical numbers, the musical explores themes of identity, mortality, and the fleeting nature of life. The show culminates in a poignant and unexpected twist, leaving audiences both moved and entertained.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS: Brooke Maxwell and Jacob Richmond are the talented creators behind the acclaimed musical Ride the Cyclone. Maxwell, a composer and musician, brings a rich, eclectic score to the production, blending various musical styles to create a unique soundscape. Richmond, a playwright and director, contributes sharp, darkly comedic writing and a knack for storytelling that balances humor with emotional depth. Together, they crafted a quirky, thought-provoking, and deeply moving musical that has captivated audiences worldwide. Their collaboration showcases a perfect fusion of music and narrative, making Ride the Cyclone a standout in contemporary musical theatre.
ABOUT THE DIRECTORS: Mary Bennett (Producer/Co-Director) and Rose Sambrano (Co-Director) are a dynamic duo with a rich history of collaboration in the theatre world. Having worked together on numerous projects, their creative synergy and shared vision have consistently brought compelling stories to life on stage. They join forces as co-directors for Ride the Cyclone at Brüka Theatre, a production that promises to be as bold and imaginative as their partnership.
With their combined expertise and passion for storytelling, Mary and Rose are thrilled to bring this unique and darkly comedic musical to life, and they can’t wait to share it with audiences. Get ready for a ride like no other!
ABOUT THE MUSIC DIRECTOR: Brandon L. Harnish (Music Director) is thrilled to make his first musical theatre credit at Brüka. Described as a "doer of many things", Brandon is the operations manager and music librarian for the Reno Chamber Orchestra, teaches math and economics at UNR, and directs the orchestra and choir at Reno Video Game Symphony.

RESERVATIONS are available in person through the Brüka Box Office (775) 323-3221, online at www.bruka.org or at our new Brüka Studio 44 located next door to Bruka on First Street at 44 W. First St. Our box office hours open Thursday through Saturday from 4 - 7 PM and on occasional Wednesdays. We are closed on most holidays. Our 2024/2025 Season Tickets are on sale beginning September 1, 2024. Individual tickets go on sale the Monday after the previous show closes. Check us out at www.bruka.org.
All Brüka mainstage evening shows begin at 7:30 PM. Matinees begin at 2:00 PM. Doors open 30 minutes before curtain time. There is NO late seating and all ticket sales are final.
PARKING
We suggest convenient parking in the Court Street parking lot across from The Pioneer Theater and walking across the new Virginia Street Bridge to Brüka, FREE after 5:00 PM and all day Saturday and Sundays. We also validate parking at the Parking Gallery on First and Sierra Street. The Downtown Ambassadors are present before and after performances for guidance and safety.
LOCATION Brüka Theatre is located at 99 N. Virginia Street at the corner of First and Virginia Streets in downtown Reno next to the Virginia Street Bridge.
ABOUT BRÜKA THEATRE Brüka Theatre celebrates its 32nd season of live theatre in downtown Reno - Transcendence is the theme for the 2024/2025 season. As an artistic leader in the region, Brüka is recognized for innovative productions, exceptionally talented artists and an acclaimed Theatre for Children touring series since its founding in 1992. Central to Brüka is the commitment to the re-investigation of contemporary and classic plays and developing new plays within Brüka’s Artistic Collective, a group that includes winners of the Nevada Arts Council and Sierra Arts Foundation artist grants and nine local best actor honors. Brüka was named “Best Theatre Company” by Reno News and Review for twenty-one years. Brüka is a non-equity, small, not-for-profit member theater company and is a constituent of the national TCG (Theatre Communications Group).
