The University Center for Economic Development, part of the College of Business at the University of Nevada, Reno, will host a day-long forum designed to bring together public sector, private sector, and non-profit community-based leaders from across the state to engage in a facilitated dialogue and strategy-building process, focused on how outdoor recreation can serve as a catalyst for rural success. This forum will feature a series of rotating facilitated break-out sessions in key areas related to outdoor recreation, including:
• Breaking Down Silos and Building Trust Across Sectors
• Elevating and Strengthening Local Business Impact related to Outdoor Recreation
• Identification of Key Gaps and Opportunities across the Value Chain of Tourism and
Recreation
• Development of a ‘Nevada Rural Recreation Playbook’
Key deliverables of the forum, based on the work completed during the facilitated break-out sessions, include the development of a Nevada rural recreation economy strategy report, the formation of a working group or advisory council, the identification of funding opportunities and support, development of a shared messaging framework, and accountability for ongoing collaboration.
Morning snacks and refreshments, a lunch, and a hosted reception will be provided throughout the day.
