California Boater Card Course

🚤 Upcoming Boat America Course 🚤

Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 12-05 Beach Cities is excited to offer the Boat America course this May, designed to help you become a safer, more responsible boater!

When: 4 Wednesday evenings in May, starting May 7, 2025

Time: 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM

Format: May 7 in-person at King Harbor Yacht Club (KHYC), Redondo Beach; remaining 3 sessions online

Location: KHYC, 280 Yacht Club Way, Redondo Beach, CA 90277

Cost: $35 (includes course materials; separate $10 fee for California Boater Card application)

Registration Deadline: May 6, 2025

Why Take This Course?

As of January 1, 2025, California requires all motorized boat operators to have passed a safe boating course and hold a California Boater Card. The Boat America course covers everything you need to know to meet these requirements and earn your boating safety certificate. Plus, completing this course may qualify you for insurance discounts.
