Looking for athletic couples for a free intro to partner acrobatics / acro yoga workshop. We will do a warmup, go over concepts and safety, teach some beginner moves, and demonstrate some more complicated moves.
I'm trying to grow our studio's partner acrobatics program and am looking for people who have that light bulb moment and discover that this an activity they have an interest in exploring.
You will be working in small groups with a base (generally the larger, stronger person who remains on the ground and lifts and moves the other person), a flyer (person held in the air by the base making interesting shapes and transitions), and a spotter (the person who watches for things to go wrong and keeps everyone safe).
Best results are if there is a significant size difference between the base and flyer, the flyer is strong and light, and the base is strong and flexible enough to touch their toes. Please be fit and free of injury.
This workshop is for COUPLES ONLY. I will take solo bases over 180lbs who can do 30 pushups and do a forward bend with palms flat on the ground. Basing at beginner levels is much hard than flying, and bases make better spotters than flyers, so extra bases can be great if they are at a decent level. I am not interested in solo flyers unless they have a strong background in gymnastics, cheer, ballet, or they can do 30 pushups and have a strong handstand practice.
Please wear comfortable but fitted athletic clothing (nothing baggy please) that is higher traction and not slippery (cotton tends to be way better than synthetic). Please be vaccinated (anti-vaxxers go away), freshly showered, friendly, and ready for an adventure. Please do not be late (as my grandma would say, barely on time is late). We have a mix of ethnicities and sexual orientations and progressive politics, if that makes you feel uncomfortable, this is not the space for you.
