On Saturday, 8:00 PM Pacific Time, at Seattle Lei Tsang Si Temple, True Buddha School Dharma King Living Buddha Lian-sheng Sheng-yen Lu will preside over Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva group practice, and discourse the Surangama Sutra.
One of the most important deities in all of Buddhism, Avalokitesvara was present in many of the Sutras taught by Buddha. From this we can understand that he was already a bodhisattva from long before Shakyamuni taught on Earth.
There are countless transformations of Avalokitesvara... Chenrezig in Tibet, Guan Yin in China, Kannon in Japan, the 1,000 armed Guan Yin, Amoghapasa, Hayagriva, the Dalai Lamas, the Virgin Mary and the 21 Taras are just a few of the better known ones. Just like the way union with Green Tara means one should have responses from all the other Taras easily, so too union with Avalokitesvara should give one responses in the practices relating to the 108 major transformations of Avalokitesvara.
Avalokitesvara is revered as the bodhisattva of the greatest compassion. What can't we solve with enough love? Thus this deity is extremely responsive and can help with all aspirations from the mundane to the transcendental. A well known side effect of practising Avalokitesvara's practices often is that we become big hearted, loving and lovable.
Afterwards, Grandmaster will answer Q&A, expound on the dharma and bestow "kai guang" and empowerment on any dharma statues and implements we have at home and any Great Compassion Dharani water we've prepared.
8pm Saturday Seattle time at Seattle Lei Tsang Si temple. Check at timeanddate.com if you're unsure what time this is for you.
