📢 New College Lectures 2025
We are delighted to announce that the 2025 New College Lectures will be held from 7:30pm to 9:30pm on 14–16 October at New College, UNSW.
This year we are honoured to welcome Professor Peter Harrison, one of the world’s leading scholars in the history of science and religion. Professor Harrison is a Professorial Research Fellow at the University of Notre Dame, Australia, and Emeritus Professor at the University of Queensland. He previously served as Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities at UQ, and was formerly the Idreos Professor of Science and Religion and Director of the Ian Ramsey Centre at the University of Oxford.
Lectures titled "God and the Secular University" will take place over three nights in the New College Main Common Room. Under the themes Medieval Beginnings, Universities and the Rise of Science, and God and the Secular University, the series will explore the impact of secularisation, the marginalisation of theology and the humanities, and the rise of instrumentalist approaches to education.
The 2025 Lectures promise to be an inspiring series of talks exploring profound questions at the intersection of knowledge, belief, and culture.
