I am going to be doing things a little bit differently for the Crazy hat competition at garden of lights this year.
Rather than toys I will be collecting warm winter clothing and gift cards to local grocery stores.
A lot of folks are losing benefits and our community is suffering … a beanie or sweatshirt and a $25 gift card to FoodMaxx or Safeway isn’t gonna break your bank people!
I will be getting an igloo for the event and if you want a spot you will come correct with both costumes and donations. Per Person! This goes for all friends and their dates should they bring one. Children under 17 attending should donate a new unwrapped toy which will be donated to the house of hope (women and children’s shelter)
The winner of the competition will receive $50 which I will match if they choose to donate to a local charity… a list will be provided. (organizations who would like to be involved please email me your QR codes.)
Dressing up and donations are only a part of it. Everybody always asks me about the actual competition… for the last four crazy hat competitions we basically just dressed up and spread cheer in the community.
This year I will be providing stamp cards… every time a community member asks for a photo with you, You get a stamp. The first person to fill their card wins. If you are away from the igloo you will have to convince them to also take a photo with your phone to show/send me 😉
There are only 8 paid spots in the igloo and this will be first come first serve… if you show up later than everybody and have to pay for your own way in, don’t blame me. You can still hang out with a private ticket. 🙂
