Join me for some family-friendly fossil fun at Redcar Palace on Wednesday August 13th!
We’ll meet in the Palace at 10.30am to have a go at making our own Plaster of Paris fossils. Then, whilst they dry, we’ll go out on Redcar Rocks to look for real fossils in the shingle. Redcar has some of the best Jurassic fossils in the UK, and can also serve up some amazing Ice Age specimens too.
Around 12.30, we’ll return to the Palace to consider what colours ancient sea creatures might have been. Suitably inspired, we'll paint our plaster creations, which are then yours to take home. (Alternatively you can take them away to paint at home.)
The activity is aimed at palaeontologists aged 6-16 and is limited to 12 children, all of whom must be accompanied by at least one parent or guardian. As we’re going out on the beach, please make sure your child/ren have beach-friendly footwear, such as boots or wellies, warm/waterproof clothing, and a small bucket or strong bag to put their favourite discoveries in.
