The book's premise...
Redcar 1946. There’s a dead body on Coatham Beach. The war is a recent memory and rationing is still a big part of life. Stringer is a private eye with a love of all things Americana. He thinks out his problems with his fists and asks questions later. He likes to base his ideas on his fictional hero, Romney Marsh. Veronica Bird is the brains of the operation. With the authorities declaring the corpse a death my misadventure, Stringer and Bird must uncover the dark underbelly of post-war Redcar.
