Rooted and Grounded, to Soar and See: a one-day symposium featuring biblical scholars Dr. Megan Roberts and Dr. James Neumann
The Word of God is a firm anchor in every age, including this one. To foster a deeper knowledge of what holds us fast, and help host the conversation around faith today, St. Leonard’s Church is hosting a one-day symposium with Bible scholars Dr. Megan Roberts and Dr. James Neumann, both from Prairie College. Prairie is an interdenominational Christian College located in Three Hills. Megan and James attend St. Barnabas Anglican Church, also in Three Hills. A neat collaboration.
We will be looking at how a closer reading of the OT prophetic tradition can inform the way we read the NT Book of Revelation. We will come away with a deeper understanding of both Old and New Testament texts, the relationship between them, and how they might apply to our lives today.
In addition to our two Sessions with Megan and James, our time together will include three short Prayer Services, and a Panel Discussion with Q&A, facilitated by Rev. Chris.
A hot lunch will feature chicken cacciatore, baked over rigatoni with homemade sauce (with a GF and lactose-free vegetarian lasagne alternative), garden green salad, fresh bread and a dessert table.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS: Saturday, Sept. 27. Doors OPEN at 8:30 am and the Symposium begins with a Service in the Sanctuary at 9:30 am. The coffee will be on, and suggested donations are $50 per person, or $25 for Seniors and those under 24. Please come as you can. We’d love to have you join us. Profits go to the Mustard Seed.
