Experience a whimsical zoological adventure through fourteen enchanting musical movements that playfully animate a diverse array of creatures
found in zoos, museums, and circuses. From vibrant aviaries to fascinating aquariums, this timeless classic by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns is sure to captivate audiences of all ages.
This all-ability retelling of the world famous, “The Carnival of the Animals,” is based in contemporary dance that also incorporates: speaking, puppetry, American Sign Language, and some potential singing, clowning, and circus acts.

WHAT:
Set in a late 1800s French Circus.
Actors, Dancers, and Creative movers, age 9 and up, of all-abilities are welcome.
Also seeking performers who dance en pointe, juggle, tumble, ride a unicycle, stilt-walk, perform magic tricks, play an instrument, jump rope, clown, or roller skate.
HOW:
One only needs to attend one night of auditions.
Please come 15 – 30 minutes early to fill out audition forms.
Guardian’s signatures required for those under 18 and those who are not their own guardian.
Prepared auditions are not necessary for actors, dancers,
and creative movers (en pointe dancers see below.)
Creative movers/dancers come dressed for movement/dance and improv (barefoot, jazz or ballet shoes, and dance/athletic wear) and/or actors for improv and cold readings from the script.
If you dance en pointe (minimum of two years experience) please prepare six counts of eight that showcases your skill level.
If you tumble or perform acro please prepare six counts of eight showcasing your skill.
If you play an instrument or sing, bring your instrument to play and prepare 32 measures of a classic or classical French song can be in English or French (singers perform a cappella.)
If you ride a unicycle, juggle, stilt walk, jump rope, perform magic tricks, clown, roller skate, or have any related circus talents (excluding arial and pyrotechnics) bring your gear and perform one minute demonstrating your skill level.

REHEARSAL/PERFORMANCE:
Rehearsals are primarily Sunday – Thursday from 6 to 9 PM, with some Fridays to accommodate holidays.
