ABOUT LIZ ADCOCK-WHITE:
In my office I have a few empty wine bottles used as vases - because the label is a great conversation starter: “Elephant in the room” - what could constitute a bigger elephant than talking about dying, grief and loss?
Kia ora I’m Liz, I manage a professional support service called The Fifth Season for people facing grief and matters related to dying and the palliative experience. I support anyone facing these matters and at any time in their life – this could be a friend, child, parent, partner, colleague, whānau for example.
As a trained End of Life Doula and social worker, my role is holistic and broad – I offer grief support, resources, advocacy, education, advanced care planning, celebration of life opportunities and workshops. I also host a free conversation called Death Café North Canterbury and collaborate with
groups such as Death Without Debt.
For as long as I can remember I have been interested in people and their life stories, my upbringing in the UK, Europe and Kuwait introduced me to cultural difference and how to know ourselves as our own story unfolds. I look forward to sharing some stories and resources with you.
