You will be taught how to disengage your mind from the busyness of everyday life and create a special feeling of inner peace.
How to combine mindfulness of the breath with visualization, or creative imagination, that leads to a deep feeling of inner calm and purity.
How to combine mindfulness of the breath with the recitation of mantra as a powerful method to overcome negative thoughts and habits of mind.
With regular practice, these meditations help to relax both body and mind and lead to a deep experience of inner peace.
Class includes guided meditations, practical teachings and time for discussion and Q & A.
You are invited to arrive a few minutes before the class starts to register and settle in or have a cup of tea or coffee. We have a book shop to browse, water on sale, and it is helpful to bring a pen and notebook if you would like to take notes. There is secure and ample parking.
After the class there are refreshments and an opportunity to ask questions informally and meet other people.
Everyone is welcome.
No special experience necessary. No special clothing is needed. Dress comfortably. Chairs are available.
About the Teacher:
Kelsang Sangkyong has been a monk of the New Kadampa Tradition for 17 years and has been teaching meditation in Johannesburg, Pretoria and in Cape Town. He is loved for his light and down-to-earth approach in sharing Buddhist wisdom.
