Aimed at the handler rather than the dog! Suitable for all standards of dogs & handlers. Will benefit newcomers, novices to experienced handlers on a topic overlooked by many.
How many times have you heard the expression “No idea why they did that” or “Well they haven't done that before” This isn't VooDoo or witchcraft its knowledge every handler should know, whether you compete in tests & trials, beat or pick-up.
We will look at the theory behind the following;
- Scent, what is it?
- Ground or air scenting, whats the difference?
- Scent cone, what is it and how a dog will use it in different conditions.
- Scenting conditions, temperature, humidity, weather - strong wind, no wind, rain, frost, etc.
- Getting your dog hunting and getting its nose down.
- Face wind, cheek wind, back wind, what is it and how to work your dog.
- Q&A session and group participation encouraged, in a friendly fun environment.
- Handout provided for the day and for future reference.
Scenarios and practical exercises throughout the session to practise, critique and improve your understanding.
