Alice Anne Conner (1/7/1944 – 9/12/2025)
A storyteller to her core, Alice Anne Conner passed peacefully on September 12, 2025, at the age of 81. Born in El Dorado, Arkansas, she lived a life rich in words, wisdom, and wonder. Her voice resonated through the pages of the Shreveport Journal, Racine Journal Times, Milwaukee Journal, and Kenosha News, where she retired after a distinguished career. Her beloved column, The Accent, captured the humor and humanity of everyday life.
Alice Anne’s spirit was theatrical and generous—gracing stages with the Racine Theatre Guild and 6th Street Players and lifting others through her tireless advocacy for civil rights, social justice, and sobriety. A proud member of Olympia Brown UU Church and Alcoholics Anonymous, she was a beacon of hope and healing to many.
She leaves behind a legacy of love: daughters Alison Conner (partner Dr. Ib Thostrup) and Elizabeth (Matthew) Schmid; stepchildren Renee Whitnall, Sara Katch, Jason Katch, Jessica (Timothy) Smith, and Alyssa (Duane) Nagel; former husband Robert Conner; siblings Sammie (Daniel) Ragsdale-Zaccara and Pamela Ragsdale-Lakatos; nephew Ash Dayle Moore; as well as 11 beloved grandchildren: Tristan, Henry, Theo, Brittany (Jordan), Dragon, Kaity (Trevor), Bella, Angie, Lucas, Joseph, Kaelin, and great-grandchildren: Jurnee, Marley, and Trinity.
A celebration of Alice Anne’s life will be held on Sunday, October 12, from 12pm to 4pm at Infusino’s Banquet Hall in Racine, WI.
Lunch will be from 12:30 to 1:30 and sharing of memories will start at 1:30.
