Originaire de Washington DC, Heidi MARTIN est auteure, chanteuse et compositrice. Habitée par l’influence folk des années 60, elle développe sa tessiture dans l’univers du champ jazzistique. Sa voix originale, à la fois authentique et provocatrice, est également profondément engagée.
En tant que chanteuse principale, elle a partagé la scène avec Nicholas Payton, Tim Warfield, Orrin Evans, Kris Funn (Cornerstore, Idol Beings) et George Burton. Elle a également enregistré avec Russell Gunn et Dana Murray et collaboré à des coproductions avec le claviériste Raymond Angry (The Roots, Producer Mondays).
Son dernier album, Gifts and Sacrifices, publié en 2023 réunit Raymond Angry (rhodes), George Burton (piano), Tarus Mateen (basse), Josh Evans (trompette), Paul Bollenback (guitare), Eric Harland (batterie), Tim Warfield (saxophone soprane) et Paige Brown (voix).
