Jay-Jay Johnson revient sur scène avec Backstage, son 15e album, où se croisent jazz, trip-hop, pop et soul. Inspiré comme jamais, il explore de nouveaux territoires sonores, allant jusqu’à chanter pour la première fois en français, avec un texte dédié à Rimbaud. Épaulé par Erik Jansson et Laura Delicata, il livre des morceaux aussi planants qu’audacieux. Entre hommages discrets à Marvin Gaye, David Lynch et Henry Mancini, Backstage est une immersion élégante et cinématographique dans l’univers singulier d’un artiste en constante réinvention.
