New Parent Symposium

It does not matter if you are planning to have a baby, expecting your first, had a baby last year or welcoming your 2nd, 3rd or more, join us on Saturday, July 26th to meet with representatives from Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) and the New Parent Support Program (NPSP) because there's always new information to learn and support for children up to the age of 5 on Quantico.

First, the Budget for Baby® workshop at 10:00 a.m., NMCRS will provide an overview of a baby’s impact on your budget, help you develop a basic financial plan, suggest ideas on how to save money, provide local resources, and introduce you to other expectant Navy and Marine Corps parents.

Participants receive budget resources to help develop a financial plan. They may schedule a one-on-one financial counseling session with an NMCRS staff member.

Not only will you be more prepared, you will receive a $50 gift card and a hand-crafted blanket.

Next, we will enjoy lunch at 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and you will have to opportunity to explore the resource fair that will include Humana/Tricare, Exceptional Family Member Program, and the Quantico Child Youth Program.

Immediately following lunch will be a condensed Baby Bootcamp at 12:00 p.m. to provide participants with a preview of what they can expect at the full-length bootcamp offered on Quantico. NPSP will help everyone learn how to make the time with their baby as stress-free and enjoyable as possible; teach coping skills to decrease anxiety of first-time parenting; explain the basics of newborn care; and show how to calm a fussy baby and reduce the risk of Shaken Baby Syndrome.

Throughout the day, there will be pop-up baby shower games, for multiple chances to win prizes

On-site child care provided.
