Emergency Management Oceanside (EMO) is pleased to announce the Emergency Preparedness Expo,
Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre, 747 Jones Street.
This free, family-friendly event will feature drop-in workshops, guest speakers, interactive displays, and the opportunity to connect with organizations involved in emergency planning and response. Attendees can also enter to win a variety of emergency preparedness prizes, including a four-person home emergency kit.
Hands-on displays include the Quake Cottage earthquake simulator, which provides a realistic experience of an 8.0 magnitude earthquake and highlights the importance of being ready for a major seismic event. Visitors will also be able to get up close with emergency equipment and vehicles, including fire, ambulance, air search and rescue, and emergency communications units. Expert presentations and demonstrations throughout the day will cover a range of topics with details available closer to the event.
Learning how to be prepared for an emergency can feel overwhelming. The Emergency Preparedness Expo is a fun, interactive and an easy way to learn how to keep yourself and your family safe. With hands-on activities, expert tips, and an earthquake simulator, there’s lots of interesting ways to become emergency-ready!
EMO is a joint initiative between the City of Parksville, Town of Qualicum Beach, and the Regional District of Nanaimo, working together to enhance community preparedness and resilience across the region.
