Light Up the Dark: Winter Solstice Celebration at The Grammar School

Join us at The Grammar School on the darkest day of the year to create our own light, warmth, and joy together.

We'll gather as a community to craft mason jar lanterns, learn about the science of the solstice and how cultures around the world mark this turning point, hear a story and share a snack, and then venture outside as darkness falls. We'll start with a little playtime on the playground (including sledding if we still have snow!). Then we'll head into the woods with our handmade lanterns lighting the way, walking the trails together singing songs of light, finally gathering at our fire pit to warm our hands and hearts with cocoa and cider.

This is a celebration for all ages—families, friends, neighbors, and anyone looking to connect with nature, community, and the rhythms of the season. Bring your sense of wonder and dress warmly for outdoor adventuring!
