Expand your artistic practice by diving into the luminous, fluid world of watercolor. This workshop offers an engaging introduction to essential watercolor technique and materials—designed for artists working in any medium who are eager to broaden their visual vocabulary and discover new ways of expressing color and light.
Through guided studies, a look at masterworks, and lively discussion, we’ll dip our toes into the distinctive qualities that make watercolor both challenging and deeply rewarding. Your existing understanding of painting, color, and light will serve as a strong foundation as you adapt to this expressive medium.
Experimenting with a new material activates fresh neural pathways, sharpens perception, and often leads to unexpected insights — invigorating your creative practice in meaningful ways.
Experience Level: Whether you’re a seasoned oil painter, a printmaker, or an acrylic explorer, this workshop welcomes you. It is not intended for absolute beginners, but no prior watercolor experience is needed.
Future Watercolor Classes: Beyond a day of painting in good company, this workshop offers a chance to discover whether you would like to continue exploring watercolor in classes we will be offering in the future at Village Arts of Putney.
Materials List: Bring any watercolor supplies you have. Additional watercolor materials will be available to share. A list of suggested (not required) materials will be sent upon registration.
About Lynn:
Lynn is an accomplished watercolor instructor and a signature member of the Vermont Watercolor Society, experienced in guiding artists toward greater confidence and fluency in their work.
She has taught workshops and classes in Italy, France, and throughout New England, earning a devoted community of students who value her clear instruction, technical knowledge, and supportive teaching style. LynnZim.com
Lunch: There will be an hour for lunch, unless participants wish to shorten that to continue painting. It is recommended to bring a bag lunch.
