An Evening with Tom Chapin

Tom Chapin’s remarkable six-decade career—spanning 26 albums and three GRAMMY Awards—comes to TCCC on Friday, June 13 at 7:30 pm. A celebrated storyteller and activist, Tom has graced Broadway stages, television studios, radio airwaves, and film sets. 

Growing up in an artistic family, Tom began performing professionally as a teenager in the early 1960s, playing in Greenwich Village folk clubs alongside his siblings Harry and Steve as The Chapin Brothers. He became host of ABC News’s Emmy- and Peabody-winning show Make A Wish in 1971, a role he held for five years. His most recent release, The Make A Wish Songbag (March 2025), unearths “lost” songs from the series.

In 1988, Tom released his first family album, Family Tree, specifically aimed at elementary school children who understood his language and humor. Embraced by children, parents, and teachers alike, it launched his career in children’s music and became the first of 13 award‐winning albums, including five GRAMMY nominations. These songs engage the heart, mind, and imagination while conveying positive messages about relationships, family, good food, and our planet.

"I'm at that place in my life where I follow what interests me," Chapin concludes. "I still love the guitar, I still love to sing, and I still love the thrill of creation: a good song, a good recording, a good concert."
