Thrown and Altered Mugs with Jillian Volpe Aug 18 and 19th

For the novice to the expert potter! We will explore simple thrown forms, combine a textured slab to build height, and create a handle to make unique cups and mugs. Day 1: Participants will learn how to throw simple forms on the potter’s wheel (approx. 3-4 forms). Next, they will make rectangular slabs and roll textures into the surface. Day 2: Participants will trim their forms and attach the textured slab onto the mug form to build height, altering the shape. They will learn how to make handles and attach them as well, completing their design. Time permitting we will use underglazes on their final greenware mugs. $80 members, $120 not-yet-members
