🍬 From Bean to Bar... to Sugar! 🍫
As part of our exciting From Bean to Bar inquiry, we’re heading to the Chelsea Sugar Factory to explore how an everyday ingredient—sugar—is made, processed, and packaged! This real-world experience will help bring our learning to life as we discover how businesses operate, how products are created, and how they end up in our homes.
📅 Room 14 & 16 – Friday 22 August
📅 Room 15 & 17 – Friday 29 August
🚌 Please arrive at school by 7:30am for the roll at the bus bay.
The bus will depart at 8:00am sharp — don’t be late!
👖👟 Important notice: All students must wear long pants and closed shoes (no Crocs or sandals). This is a factory safety requirement.
🥪 Please remember to pack a healthy morning tea and lunch — there is no café access during the visit.
💰 There is no cost for this trip — it is fully covered under our school’s EOTC programme. We will need one parent helper per class. Please e-mail your child's teacher if you are interested.
🎉 Here’s what we’ll experience on the day:
🔹 Learn how raw sugar arrives and is processed in NZ
🔹 Explore the full sugar production process
🔹 Discover the fascinating history of the Chelsea site
🔹 See how sugar is packaged and distributed
🔹 Test our knowledge in the interactive zone
🔹 Take a guided tour of the factory
🔹 Enjoy a hands-on baking session
It’s going to be a fun, educational, and delicious day — we can’t wait! 🍰
