Join us on Saturday, August 16, 2025, as we celebrate the remarkable life of Penny Lou Best. The event will take place at the Princeton Moose Lodge from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Penny’s life was filled with joy, dedication, and an unyielding commitment to her family, friends, and community. Her vivacious spirit and fearless style left an unforgettable impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on October 31, 1942, in Streator, Illinois, Penny lived a vibrant and fulfilling life until her passing on March 31, 2025, in Princeton, Illinois, at the age of 82. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, and a passionate volunteer and community leader. Penny was deeply involved in numerous organizations, including the Red Hat Society, the Moose Lodge, and the Elks Club, where she served as the Exalted Ruler. Her dedication to her community extended to significant contributions to events such as Beef and Ag Days, the Civil War Committee, and the Homestead Festival.
The celebration will feature stories and memories shared by family and friends; a photo and memorabilia display capturing Penny’s incredible journey, Food, and refreshments to enjoy together. Penny’s love for dressing up will be honored during the event, so attendees are encouraged to wear colorful and spirited attire to reflect her unique personality.
