This is the time of the longest day, and of most sunlight.
It is a time of growth and creation when nature is in full bloom. It is the time when we are usually most active, and yet we have been confined to our homes for many weeks. It is a time where usually would gather and connect, and yet now we are in a time when we are mostly forbidden to touch or even get close to each other.
Our ancestors may have celebrated this time with feasting, drinking and dancing, by drawing water from sacred wells, lighting bonfires, and by decorating themselves, their homes and their cattle with flowers. This is a time to celebrate our abundance as we prepare for the harvest and the birth of life. This is when we celebrate our greatest potency.
The Summer Solstice, Midsommer or St John's Day, usually falls somewhere between 20th and 22nd, and this year is at 03:42, UK time, on Saturday 21st June.
Using story sharing, music, movement and laughter we will connect to our inner wisdom and power explore what it means to be embodied at this time. You will help create a sacred space in which you can relax, open, heal, reclaim and support others to do the same ….

THE FACILITATOR
The playshop will be lovingly facilitated by Gillian Alexander
Gillian has been facilitating training for more than 35 years. She has facilitated the Sacred Heart Tantra Group meetings, events and organisation in Scotland since she cofounded the group in early 2009. Her background is mainly in science and research, in health service facilitation and management and as a shaman, masseuse and Dakini. She is an artful solution finder, motivator and inspirer of others, leading by example in living in her passion and embodying her power. She invites you into a world where anything is possible …

"I wanted to say thank you for the playshop on Sunday. I had never attended anything like this before and was incredibly nervous beforehand. That nervous feeling disappeared almost as soon as I entered the room and I think that was down to the positive energy, both from you and the others present.
Everything I did that day was new to me but the environment that you created made it a very safe and secure place to gain new experiences. I felt able to explore myself in the company of very warm, accepting people. I really appreciated the fact that there was no compulsion to share if that would make me feel uncomfortable.
The atmosphere was amazing and the music was so suited to the different aspects of the day. I enjoyed all the different exercises and found that I was being stretched to think about me and my relationship to other people and to the Earth.
The circle at the end of the day was truly wonderful with everyone being honoured by the group in the way that they choose. I found it took me some courage to ask, but being so beautifully hugged by the entire group was an experience I will never forget – I can still feel it almost a week later.
