Hope Walk

The University of Lancashire is hosting a Hope Walk in Preston on Thursday, October 9th, in partnership with the Mary O'Gara Foundation and Papyrus. The walk is open to everyone, not just university staff and students, and will take place in and around Avenham Park.

The event will begin at 11:30am in the University Square with stalls and information raising awareness of suicide prevention and mental health support. This will be followed by a speech at 12pm with the walk starting at 12:15pm. The walk will be approximately 2 miles and will return to the University Square where the North West Ambulance Service choir will perform.

The Hope Walk is being held in memory of Mary O'Gara, who sadly took her own life in 2020. The Mary O'Gara Foundation was established by her parents to honour her memory and raise awareness about suicide prevention. The event is a chance to show support for those struggling with mental health and suicidal thoughts.
