Heritage and History in Practice is a series of free, hands-on workshops at the University of Lancashire hosted by Dr Brandon Taylorian for anyone with an interest in history, heritage, or family stories.
The workshops invite members of the public to work alongside university researchers to explore historic photographs and other heritage materials. Participants will learn practical skills such as identifying and caring for old photographs, digitising materials, and interpreting what images can tell us about the past. Together, the group will also explore how personal and community histories can be shared meaningfully with wider audiences.
No previous experience or specialist knowledge is required. You are welcome to bring your own family photographs or heritage materials if you wish, but this is entirely optional. All activities are guided and supported, and participants can take part at a level they feel comfortable with.
Across the workshop series, participants will contribute to the creation of materials for a small public exhibition hosted by the University. The workshops are friendly, inclusive, and designed to support learning, discussion, and collaboration.
Places are limited, and advance registration is required by emailing Dr Taylorian at YnJ0YXlsb3JpYW4gfCBsYW5jYXNoaXJlICEgYWMgISB1aw==
