Step into a world where music meets the magic of Shakespeare at Afternoon Opera: Solos & Soliloquies. This spellbinding 60-minute recital will feature some of the Bard’s most beloved scenes, reimagined through the power of operatic voice and poetic performance, and is part of the 21st Prescot Festival of Music & the Arts.
This enchanting afternoon features Prescot-born soprano Laura Hudson, whose impressive career has seen her perform leading dramatic roles across the UK, including Wagner’s Götterdämmerung (The Twilight of the Gods). Joining her is accomplished pianist and repetiteur Jonathan Ellis, who brings both technical brilliance and emotional depth to the stage.
Bridging the worlds of theatre and music is Lane Paul Stewart, a seasoned performer and theatre maker with over two decades of professional experience as an actor and puppeteer. His background, rooted in a northern working-class perspective, adds a distinctive layer to his passionate and thoughtful interpretations of Shakespeare’s texts.
Taking place in the beautifully atmospheric surroundings of the Shakespeare North Playhouse Sir Ken Dodd Performance Garden, this unique event is not to be missed.
