Jindřich Přibík je zcela unikátním autorem, který ve svých dílech celoživotně kombinuje fotografii s filosofickou reflexí estetiky a samotné existence. Na raný cyklus z plzeňského muzea, ukazující touhu po hlubším poznání, navazuje mrazivě lakonický cyklus Nature morte, ve smyslu slovní hříčky ukazující „mrtvou přírodu“ v nejrozličnějších podobách. Tuto různorodost pak dotváří fantaskně otevřený cyklus Montáží, kombinující vlastní i nalezené negativy napříč časem a prostorem do názorných filosofujících vizí a konstelací.
Tento stručný výběr z Přibíkovy tvorby je přitom jen zlomkem celoživotního díla, čítajícího přes 50 tematických cyklů a tvořících dohromady ojedinělý a různorodý vesmír jeho specifického vidění, formovaného fenomenologií a hermeneutikou na jedné straně a humanistickou a reportážní fotografií na straně druhé. Přibík nám skrze něj přestavuje svoji osobitou vizi jakési „fotosofie“, tedy snahy o porozumění světu a úžasu nad ním skrze fotografii.
Jindřich Přibík se narodil 12. září 1944 v Plzni do rodiny ředitele sklárny Přibík a Fischer. Po nucené praxi v gumárně pracoval v letech 1962 až 1963 jako fotograf v Západočeském muzeu, odkud pochází první představený cyklus, doplněný juvenilními, ale překvapivě pronikavými textovými komentáři. Až od poloviny 60. let bylo Přibíkovi dovoleno studovat fotografii na FAMU a paralelně také filosofii na Univerzitě Karlově u Jana Patočky. V roce 1973 Jindřich Přibík emigroval do Belgie, kde se velmi úspěšně věnoval divadelní a reklamní fotografii, ale i přes komerční zakázky pokračoval ve své umělecké tvorbě. V roce 1997 se vrátil do Česka a usadil se v jihočeské Maříži.

Jindřich Přibík is a truly unique artist who has spent his career uniting photography with philosophical reflections on aesthetics and existence itself. His early series from the Pilsen Museum already reveal a yearning for deeper understanding. They are followed by the starkly laconic cycle Nature morte, a play on words that presents “dead nature” in its many unsettling forms. This thread of inquiry expands further in his imaginative Montages, where he interweaves across time and space his own negatives with found ones into vivid philosophical constellations.
This brief selection from Přibík's work is only a fraction of his life's work, which includes over 50 thematic cycles and together forms a unique and diverse universe of his specific vision, shaped by phenomenology and hermeneutics on the one hand and humanistic and reportage photography on the other. Through this, Přibík formulates his unique vision of a kind of “photosophy”: an attempt to both comprehend and marvel at the world through photography.
Jindřich Přibík was born on September 12, 1944, in Pilsen to the family of the director of the Přibík and Fischer glassworks. After compulsory practical training in a rubber factory, he worked as a photographer at the West Bohemian Museum between 1962 and 1963, producing his first series accompanied by youthful yet strikingly perceptive texts. It was not until the mid-1960s that Přibík was allowed to study photography at FAMU and, at the same time, philosophy at Charles University under Jan Patočka. In 1973, Jindřich Přibík emigrated to Belgium, where he was very successful in theater and advertising photography. Despite commercial commissions, he continued his artistic work. In 1997, he returned to the Czech Republic and settled in Maříž in South Bohemia.
