🤠 Zimní westerny jsou specifickou a mimořádně působivou podskupinou jinak skoro vždy sluncem rozžhaveného a prachem rozvířeného žánru historek z Divokého západu. A nebyl by to Tarantino, aby si jako hlavní inspirační zdroj mezi svými oblíbenými spaghetti westerny, či spíše antiwesterny, nevybral mimořádný snímek proslulého italského žánrového filmaře Sergia Corbucciho Velké ticho (1968). Drsný, nekompromisní majstrštyk ze zasněženého Utahu byl pro své brutální scény v některých zemích dokonce zakázán. Příběh němého pistolníka bránícího v nepřítomnosti šerifa sněhem zapadlé městečko proti surovým lovcům lidí a banditům z hor nabízí i jednoho z nejzvrhlejších i nejcharismatičtějších záporáků stříbrného plátna, Klause Kinského. A hudbu božského Ennia Morriconeho.
Na klasický spaghetti western naváže Tarantinův vlastní "černošský antiwestern" Nespoutaný Django (2012), v němž si Tarantino rovněž pořádně cynicky, barbarsky a nápaditě pohrál s kdysi zcela nedotknutelnými filmovými atributy oslavného dobývání Západu s čistokrevně bílými kovbojskými klaďasy bez bázně a hany.

🤠 Winter westerns are a specific and exceptionally impressive subgenre of the otherwise almost always sun-baked and dust-filled genre of Wild West stories. And it wouldn't be Tarantino if he didn't choose the extraordinary film The Great Silence (1968) by the famous Italian genre filmmaker Sergio Corbucci as his main source of inspiration among his favorite spaghetti westerns, or rather anti-westerns. This harsh, uncompromising masterpiece set in a snowy valley on the border between Mexico and the United States was even banned in some countries at the time for its brutal scenes. The story of a silent gunman defending a snow-covered town against brutal bandits and killers from the mountains in the absence of the sheriff also features one of the most charismatic villains of the silver screen - Klaus Kinski, here, of course, the most cruel and depraved of all the desperados. And music by the divine Ennio Morricone. And a proverbially bitter ending.
The film is followed by Tarantino's own "black anti-western" Django Unchained (2012), in which Tarantino also cynically, barbarically, and imaginatively plays with the once untouchable film attributes of the glorified conquest of the West with pure-blooded white cowboys who are fearless and without reproach.
