During their two-month residency (1. 9. – 31. 10. 2025) at MeetFactory in collaboration with Studio ALTA, Leire will continue developing an ongoing research project exploring how a common body can emerge through collective artistic practices. Rooted in questions about the material and emotional conditions that allow such a body to exist and endure, the project approaches artistic collaboration as a site of shared living, creation, and mutual affect. Leire’s methodology is embodied and situated, blurring the line between researcher and subject to embrace a deeply affective mode of inquiry.”
Artist Leire de Meer (they/he/she) proposes a form of non-verbal dialogue in "This is not a representation". This participatory ritual explores the physical and political labor of holding bodies, reclaiming a sense of interdependence.
The audience will receive a set of instructions. The audience will be invited to gently wrap another participant in a vast white cloth, lift them together with others, walk in a circle, and lay them down. You may choose to be wrapped, to help lift, or to bear witness. Through this silent, repetitive cycle, the audience transforms into a community, practicing a direct act of collective care and responsibility. The large white canvas, both tool and witness, becomes a shared membrane, a cocoon, a shroud.
No prior experience is needed. The artist will facilitate a safe and respectful environment for all to participate at their own comfort level.
