Tvorba oaklandské hudebnice Kathryn Mohr se plíží potemnělým liminálním prostorem bludných zvukových disociací.
Její melancholický noise folk z nové nahrávky Waiting Room (The Flenser), v němž se dronící kytarový hluk potkává s terénními nahrávkami a zastřenými vokály, Pitchfork ve své pochvalné recenzi v lednu označil titulem Best New Music. Album, které abstraktně zkoumá pomíjivost lidské existence, proměnlivost paměti a způsoby, jakými trauma ovlivňuje naše vnímání světa, Mohr nahrála během měsíčního pobytu na východním Islandu. V izolaci rybářské vesnice Stöðvarfjörður trávila dlouhé hodiny ponořená do soutředěné tvorby s přestávkami na toulky podél pobřeží s rekordérem v ruce. Z pobytu vzešla sbírka jedenácti skladeb, v nichž Mohr pojmenovává a zpracovává celou škálu zdánlivě nepřístupných emocí.
Kathryn Mohr na podzim vyráží na evropské turné, v rámci nějž album Waiting Room představí v MeetFactory ve své pražské premiéře. Pro fanoušky Grouper, labelu kranky, Jessicy Bailiff i PJ Harvey.

The music of Oakland-based artist Kathryn Mohr occupies a dusky liminal space of elusive auditory dissociation.
Mohr's melancholic noise folk on her new album Waiting Room (The Flenser) — where droning walls of guitar distortion blend with atmospheric field recordings and hazy vocals — was titled Best New Music in Pitchfork's glowing review earlier this year. The album, a meditative exploration of the ephemeral nature of humanity, the warping of memory, and the effects of trauma on one's experience of this world, was created over the course of a month in eastern Iceland.
In the quiet isolation of the fishing town Stöðvarfjörður, Mohr spent hours immersed in the writing and recording of this album in a windowless concrete room lit with a string of multicolored light bulbs, taking breaks to wander the shoreline, field recorder in hand. A collection of eleven songs was born, an album that is a processing of emotions often unreachable, buried, or unnamed.
Kathryn Mohr takes her new album Waiting Room on a European tour this coming fall, featuring a premiere show in Prague on November 11. For fans of Grouper, kranky, JessicaBailiff, and PJ Harvey.
