Molly Nilsson moves through the world with stubborn vulnerability, weaving an atmosphere that is both defiant and open-armed. “Love is so incredibly defenseless,” she reflects. For Nilsson, to create is a kind of protest—a refusal to become what is expected, to trade instinct for approval. “I just want to have fun. I want to want. I want to love. And keep doing it, forever. Even when it’s tiring and sometimes even heaven is boring as hell.”
Her songs carry the weight of trying and failing, yet within that, the refusal to give up the pleasure of curiosity. “Take it all the way, and never get it back”—the process matters more than the destination. Nilsson celebrates mistakes, admitting, “I want to be bad. I want to do my own thing.”
In her world, loneliness transforms into daydreaming; ordinary moments are invitations for deeper reflection. “I know a lot of people are afraid of loneliness, and I don’t understand, because it’s nothing,” she says. “What if I just turn this around, and this is nice?”
Molly Nilsson is coming to Fuchs2 with her upcoming album Amateur, due in September, for the first time on Tuesday, December 9.
